Good News! BJIFF's International Lounge Named a 2025 Key Project Under Chaoyang District's Cultural Excellence Initiative
More than 700 business meetings, participation from film companies across six continents, and three years of dedicated industry engagement—through a single platform, the International Lounge, the Beijing International Film Festival ("BJIFF") has continued to advance the global reach of Chinese cinema. Today, that commitment has received prestigious official recognition.
On June 18, the International Lounge project of the 15th BJIFF was honored as the 2025 Key Project (Events Category) under Chaoyang District's Cultural Excellence Initiative.
As noted in the official citation, the International Lounge, one of the flagship programs of the BJIFF Beijing Film Market, has successfully "brought together filmmakers from around the world to build a bridge connecting Chinese and international cinema". Centered on international industry exchange and collaboration, the initiative has continued to serve as a premier platform linking Chinese cinema with the global marketplace. In 2025, the platform inaugurated the "Chinese Film Overseas Distribution" Award Ceremony, recognizing Chinese and international organizations that have made sustained contributions to promoting Chinese-language cinema worldwide. In 2026, it launched the Chinese Film "Lightboat Project", a new program designed to help low- and medium-budget Chinese-language films establish targeted connections with overseas markets.
