On April 19, the 15th BJIFF Animated Films & TV Section – “Fantasy Anime in Spring” animation-themed event was held in Beijing. It was guided by the Publicity Department of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee and BJIFF Organizing Committee and hosted by Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, Beijing Municipal Film Administration, CPC Haidian District Committee, and Haidian District People's Government. During the theme event, Wang Jiequn, Secretary of CPC Leadership Group and Director of Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, announced the “Spring Invitation” and the interim results of “30 Articles on Beijing Animation”.
She stated that animation is a manifestation of cultural confidence, a carrier of cultural inheritance, a catalyst for scientific and technological innovation, and an engine for economic growth. From The Monkey King to Ne Zha 2, Chinese animation has always been exploring development paths through the integration of tradition and modernity, local and global, art and technology. In the future, with the deep integration of “animation +” and “+ animation”, she put forward three views on how the animation industry can better become an important force in building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation and become a cultural bridge for telling Chinese stories and serving a better life.
Promote the Integration of Animation Business Forms with Open and Inclusive Sincerity
Beijing is a fertile ground for the development and growth of Chinese animation, with a complete industrial chain valued at over 120 billion yuan, hosting 154 active animation, film and television institutions, covering the entire cycle and chain from technology research, creative incubation, production and distribution to derivative product development. Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau hopes to share new opportunities for cooperative development with everyone, jointly building a dual-circulation industrial ecology of “excavates cultural treasures domestically and builds an animation corridor internationally”, using the charm of animation to build a bridge of light and shadow that connects cultural veins, links global creativity, and empowers a new economic ecology.
Promote the Transformation of Premium Animation Content with the Original Intention of Inheritance and Dissemination
In recent years, Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau has been committed to tapping into Beijing's cultural resources, establishing a “Beijing Grand Audio-Visual Assemblage” for high-quality creation, producing a number of popular animation, film and television masterpieces such as ViViCat, Wool Wool Town, Chang An, and the 8K ultra-high-definition digital animation Door Gods. Fully leveraging the guiding effect of the “30 Measures of Beijing Animation”, a service package has been created, including administrative approval services, 13 policies to optimize the business environment, 8 funding programs, 38 audio-visual industrial parks, and major cultural activities. Empowered by favorable factors such as policies, funds, markets, services, and promotion, a large number of animation organizations with dreams and vitality have joined hands to create blockbusters such as Ne Zha 2, achieving a leap from “plateau” to “peak”.
Promote Animation Technology Innovation with the Determination to Overcome Difficulties and Make Breakthroughs
The evolution of animation technology is essentially an exploration of the history of the integration of art and technology. Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau will focus on promoting the transformation of new technologies, the research and development of new products, the application of new scenes, and the expansion of new services. It will strengthen scientific and technological breakthroughs, increase policy support and financial assistance for animation technology, and actively support the use of new audio-visual technologies such as ultra-high definition, XR, holography, and naked-eye 3D to create animation works, and encourage traditional art forms such as stop-motion, paper-cutting, paper-folding, and ink animation to accelerate digital integration and development.
The prospects are promising, and great opportunities lie ahead. Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau will work with the National University Animation Innovation Consortium to build a high ground for original animation incubation, a scientific and technological innovation center, and a hub for international communication, mapping out a new blueprint for the future development of Chinese animation!
