Founded in 2005, Beijing International Sports Film Week serves as an important part of the "Beijing Olympic Culture Festival" organized by the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee during the Beijing Olympic Games. As an international sports films and television exchange event since the preparation and holding of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, it’s organized by the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, the BJIFF Organizing Committee, the National Radio and Television Administration and the General Administration of Sport of China. After the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, it was continued by the Beijing Olympic City Development Association and included in the Beijing Olympic City Sports Culture Festival as a follow-up event of the "Humanistic Olympics”. Since 2009, this event has officially become one of the important sub-stations of the Sport Movies & TV-Milano International FICTS FEST-World Championship Final, and gradually become one of the important bridges for the internationalization of Chinese sports film and television culture to introduce the world’s excellent sports film and television works. To thoroughly implement the important instructions by the CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping after the successful bid for the Winter Olympics, the film week has been organized by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Chinese Olympic Committee and Beijing Olympic City Development Association since 2017. A series of activities are held every year such as the selection of works of FICTS World Championship Final (Beijing), exhibition of sports films and dramas, related sports and cultural activities as well as opening and closing ceremonies. Adhering to the principle of "inheriting Olympic legacy and promoting development", the film week actively cooperates with the preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympics, publicizes the 2022 Winter Olympics and the Olympic legacy, disseminates winter sports culture, strives to build a high-quality platform and promote the creation and development of international sports film and drama exchanges, and tell the stories of Chinese ice and snow sports to the world. After more than ten years of development, the film week has become an important sports and cultural event in Beijing to inherit Olympic legacy and spread Olympic spirit.
